Karen Homer-Forbes

Karen always had a passion for veterinary nursing and started volunteering in veterinary practice when she was 15 years old. She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1990 from Rodbaston, Penkridge, and has worked internationally in a wide variety of practices, veterinary hospitals and zoological collections.

She was one of the first Veterinary Nurses to gain the C&G Veterinary Nursing of Exotic Species qualification in 2002, and has numerous qualifications in animal behaviour and training. She has published several articles and lectured to Veterinary Nurses in UK and Ireland.

Karen worked with our Avian and Exotics team as a locum for quite some time before joining the nursing team on a permanent basis in 2015. Her key interests include exotics, animal behaviour and welfare.

Karen is currently the British Veterinary Zoological Society Council Veterinary Nurse Representative.
