Ashton graduated from Murdoch University in Western Australia in 2015 after working extensively with exotics as an undergraduate. During her time at university, she spent time in exotic practices throughout Australia and volunteered with wildlife in South Africa and Cambodia. She moved to the UK in 2016 and spent time in small animal and exotic practice before joining the team at Great Western Exotics as one of the avian residents, under the supervision of Tom Dutton.
Ashton gained her Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Zoological Medicine in 2020 through the University of Edinburgh. She is a regular contributor to a number of veterinary publications and has been invited to peer review for several veterinary journals. Ashton has an interest in avian anaesthesia, reptile wound management and parrot behaviour.
